Streetlight Productions goal is to support street performers and artists in cultivate a thriving downtown scene. To achieve these goals we:

  • Offer training sessions to performers and artists wishing to perform downtown.
  • Coordinate special event programming to publicize downtown street performance.
  • Support artists in their interaction with Raleigh City Government and the permitting process.
  • Maintain a mailing list to keep artists informed of developments and news.
  • Provide a list of educational resources for performers and artists.

To better serve artists, city government, and the community, we have partnered with the City of Raleigh to service the artist screening and permitting functions. Any artist wishing to street perform can do so under the Streetlight Productions Permit for $10/year instead of the $40/year charged by the city of Raleigh. College students can take advantage of discounted student rate of $5.

There are a number of great resources on-line about street performing from full time, world class performers. It's said that you don't begin to understand the principles of the art until you have done 100 shows and you don't fully understand your character for 7 years. Whatever you choose to believe about street performance, the one thing that is indisputable is that it takes time, experience, study, reflection, and work. The resources below should get you started on the right foot!
